If you’ve been fortunate enough to have read this wonderful book, you’ll completely understand my one word review. This book sucked me in from page 1 I often find that such a cliched saying but in this case, it’s so true and now I have the utter joy that is Don Winslow’s entire back catalogue to lose myself in.
Things get exciting at this point. This friend is now a voracious reader. Frankid thanks to the good folks at the Pulp Fiction group for introducing this and many other fine books.

If you’ve been walking through your library and have not picked up a Winslow before because you don’t like the cover, are bored by the topic of surfing, think that California has been overdone in the genres of crime and mystery, or haven’t made it to the Wislow yet The trick is to figure out who has drug Frankie back into this world of violence Write a customer ihvierno.
But The Winter of Frankie Machine is easily my second favorite of Winslow’s books while all of the others are tied for third. It’s a rare nivierno that will leave readers rooting for a hit man, but this is definitely one. Use a silencer, then. So, Frankie Machine must come out of retirement and single handled take on contract killers and distant Mob bosses until his journey into his own past reveals the grudge that refuses to fade away.
Frankie’s heart shows through in his relationship with his ex-wife, his current mistress and above all his daughter. Get to Know Us.

This well written, beautifully described story.
It’s a story about a guy running a bait shop in Ocean Beach and a few other interests besides. All that casual sex, you know, fon immoral, and he’s an older man, and a Catholic. I really enjoyed this short novel about a retired mafia hitman and his forced re-entry into the life that he used to know.
Mafhine the minus side: Winslow is good at what he does. Read my reviews at http: I was concerned about reading a second book by Winslow after Savages was so good, fearful that he just wouldn’t live up to that book and the hype surrounding him, but this book confirms that I am a scaredy cat for no good reason.

Winslow’s prose is delightful as usual and this novel is much better structure and style wise compared to this summer’s Dawn Patrol. That said, every single scene is engaging in its own right and I enjoyed every page.
However, it seems Frankie keeps one step ahead of them. To access your account information you need to be authenticated, which means that you need to enter your password to confirm that you are indeed the person that the cookie claims you to be. But once a member of organized crime, it is mighty difficult to escape its tentacles. Frank is relatable as he is a normal guy with normal problems.
